How to Use Teatree Oil for Skin - Skincare DIY

Although I heard a lot about the benifits of TeaTree Oil, I never tried it in real. But since three months my skin is going under a real bad phase. Severe breakouts and cystic acne what the doc termed them.
I have used up the medicines for a month and they gave a good result too. I was somehow drawn towards the herbal ways of treating my skin for good though. So, the first thing came in to my mind was this!

Top 10 Summer Uses for Virgin Coconut Oil

I would like to share some ideas on how to use virgin coconut oil in and around your home this summer! So here are my top 10 summer uses for virgin coconut oil

1.          Pre-sun care:
Rub a small amount of virgin coconut oil on exposed skin before heading out in the sun. Virgin coconut oil has a natural SPF of 4 and is a great antioxidant! Remember to practice safe sun-care by avoiding direct exposure during peak hours, especially for young children.
2.          Post-sun care:
Sometimes we inadvertently get a little too much sun, and our skin turns a bit red. Virgin coconut oil’s moisturizing properties are perfect for parched, sunburned skin! Just rub it on several times a day to keep the skin moisturized and prevent peeling. It’s also a great all-purpose body lotion too!

Top 10 Vegetables for Glowing Skin

Hey girls..
The secret to healthy and beautiful skin does not lie in expensive skin creams, but in what we eat. Beauty is skin deep and what you eat reflects on your skin. Junk foods and coffee are highly processed, which makes the skin lose its radiance. A research at the University of St. Andrews has found that eating two servings of vegetables daily can make a visible difference to the skin’s health. The phytochemicals, fiber, antioxidants and other important nutrients present in vegetables improve the quality of the skin by making it beautiful and luminous. Today we present 10 vegetables that can help to make your skin appear glowing and healthy.
1. Beans:
Beans are a good source of B complex vitamins like niacin, thiamin, pantothenic acid and pyridoxine that are required for the normal functioning of the cells. Beans contain biotin, a mineral that forms the structure of the skin cells, while niacin helps the skin to retain its moisture. Edamame beans are rich in isoflavones, which scavenge the free radicals produced by constant exposure to the sun. It also keeps the skin firm by preventing collagen breakdown.
2. Sweet potatoes:
Vitamin A in sweet potatoes contains anti-inflammatory properties, fighting acne-causing bacteria. It also provides Vitamin E to the skin, which is required to regenerate the skin cells. Sweet potatoes regulate the fluctuation of blood sugar by combating stress. Vitamin A also helps to improve the circulation of oxygen to the skin. It enables the skin to hold in moisture, relieving dryness and flaky skin.

Guest post X by Vandana Choudhary
Hi friends
This is Vandana Choudhary from  New Delhi.
** I hope all you divas out there would love to know how can we convert an old bag into the new one.**

I want to tell you all that the bag in which I used to keep all my money was getting old and the skin over it was torn from outside, although it was in good condition from inside.

So I got an idea to do the makeover of my favourite bag and here comes the process in which you all can do it too.

Things we require:
1.We need a fabric glue(fevikwik,etc)
2.we need scissors
3.we need a new piece of cloth for pasting on the outer part of bag

  • Now we have to cut the piece of cloth into the shape according to the size of bag.
  • Then we can paste the cloth on the bag from all the sides using the fabric glue.
  • Now also paste that cloth on the handle of bag too.If you want to add something like ribbon, etc to the bag, then go for it to make it look more stylish.

10 LESSONS Learnt from MY First Ever EYE MakeUp

Heyya girls..This post is a bit weird yet an interesting one(atleast I thought )
Coming to the point, Well.. As I already boosted up so much about my first ever eye makeup that too I sent for a contest. You can view it here

In the process of making up my eyes, I learnt many lessons. Which I felt like sharing with you guys.
So, here goes the list.
  1. You may want to blend the eye shadows, Remember to dab the eye shadow with the applicator in the desired form and then slowly drag the corners to fade,so that you can add one more color to the eye.
  2. Apply some concealor/foundation to the eye lid, this would make the eye shadow to stick properly and make it last longer.
  3. Apply the Kohl/ kajal first, If you want to tight line the eye. Coz I always like to have a tightline.
  4. Color eye shadow, Oh yeah! You apply it when you want to put some color to your eyelid. Just simple yet slow dabbing of the eye shadow will be sufficient.tumblr_lyq51jzrep1qbskxio1_400_large
  5. I found it weird when I applied the eyeshadow like this: " I took some eye shadow to the brush and applied at the starting of my eye and slowly dragged the same to the corner, which gave no color at all. lol."
  6. Apply the eye liner when you are done with the eye shadow. Use the liquid liner only if you are a pro. people like me, who can not draw a line, avoid liquid liner and go for the eye pencil.
  7. Remove the eye makeup with a cotton ball. I use olive oil or baby oil to clean the entire thing
  8. Avoid soap/facewash to clean, It hurts a lot.
  9. If you have glasses, make sure you wearing anti glare lenses to it. After all, you put so much effort and you don't want glasses to cover your beauty.
  10. If you wear lens, like me, Do wear them first. Start the makeup after that.
Here is the ideal eye makeup according to your Zodiac sign
I hope these tips help the beginners like me, who want to learn to get hands-on this eye makeup.
Please do share your secret tips in comments, It will be really helpful

DIY: Leave in Conditioner at home!

Pretty ladies

I took a long time working on this. Finally I'm back with a simple yet effective way of making a leave in conditioner at home.

the recipe:

Things you need
  • A spray bottle
  • 1 spoon conditioner
  • 4 spoons water
  • Essential oils
Mix the conditioner with water.
Here I want to mention a point, the measurements can be varied.
The basic thumb rule is to mix 1 part of conditioner with 4parts of water.

Mix it well. Fill in a spray bottle with the mixture.

You should be using this on washed and towel dried hair. Just spray the required amount in your hair.
Comb thoroughly.
Style as usual.

If you want some fragrance other than the usual conditioner fragrance, simply add 3-4 drops of essential oil. It not only give your hair a nice smell, it tames tough hair too making it soft and smooth!

You can add a spoon of Silk Peptide Powder to your mixture to have extra smooth hair at one go.

  • Shake the bottle before every use.
  • Try applying on the towel dried hair only
  • Don't forget to comb of the tangles after application.
  • Try making small quantity like 100ml or so.
Appu :)

DRY HAIR !!! Definition, Damage Causes, Cures !!

Heyya Pretty Ladies

I wanted to write a post on dry hair since so long as my sister is facing too many issues with her dry hair/scalp. having oily/dry hair is annoying as you never know when you gonna have a bad hair day. But if you have dry hair then the count of bad hair days would be more :P
Anyway.. You cant change whats been given to you(I am not speaking about any artificial surgeries and stuff ) rather you go on with it like a DIVA!

This post is exclusively for people with DRY FRIZZY HAIR!!
Resembles my sister when she takes a head bath :D
There are many causes behind the damage of dry hair. I listed out the important and most common culprits.
  • Excessive hair wash
  • Too many chemical treatments.
  • Dyeing
  • Sun / Pollution
  • Improper diet
Cure :
1.The Shampoo:
Those with dry hair should check for the PH levels in the shampoo. The ideal Ph level is between 4.5 and 6.7.
A thumb rule: Don't use any hair cleanser that you wouldn't put on your face. Some people recommend baby shampoos, but their pH is usually far too high; such alkaline shampoos dry out the hair. Acidic shampoos are better for your hair.
2. Be Gentle:
Dry hair is the so delicate and prone to breakage. Be gentle to hair in order to avoid further damage.
When lathering, be gentle. Avoid any pulling the hair. Don't scrub with your fingernails, which can not only break the hair but irritate your scalp. Work up a lather using your fingertips, instead.  Gently rubbing your scalp with your fingertips will also stimulate the oil glands.

3.The Conditioner
Straw like hair needs conditioning.Conditioners with little or no fragrance tend to be low in alcohol or contain none at all.
If your hair is really dry, consider using an overnight conditioner, which you apply before going to bed (you sleep wearing a shower cap) and rinse off in the morning.
Ex: Himalaya hair cream for dry hair.

4. Hot Oil
Hair-care professionals often recommend hot-oil treatments to repair dry, damaged hair. Over-the-counter hot-oil products are available that you heat and place on the hair for 5 to 20 minutes.Wear a plastic bag or shower cap over your hair while the hot oil is on, then wash the hair thoroughly with a gentle shampoo.

5.Say no to the Heat
Using hot combs, hot rollers, and blow-dryers is like welcoming dry hair.Avoid the heat as far as possible. This heat includes the Sun, the hot curlers/rollers, Hot Iron etc.
If you must use artificial heat, keep your blow-dryer on a low setting and avoid pulling or stretching the hair while drying

6. Try Vinegar
Vinegar is a great conditioner and can improve cleanliness and shine. Just add 1 tablespoon vinegar to your hair as you rinse it. Keep a travel-size plastic bottle of vinegar in your shower for this purpose, and take one when you travel, too.
Use vinegar to make dandruff disappear. Massage full-strength vinegar into your scalp several times a week before you shampoo. Or, a brief soak in vinegar and water before you shampoo can help control dandruff as well as remove the dulling buildup from sprays, shampoos, and conditioners.

7. Tips from Kitchen
Nuts and seeds. Try snacking on some seeds and nuts. They contain essential fatty acids that can pop that sheen right back into your hair.

You'll need the full-fat kind, not a diet or low-fat version. Take 1 tablespoon or so onto your hair, rub it in down to your scalp, then cover with a plastic cap and wait about 30 minutes. Rinse it out thoroughly.
Rub a little oil into your scalp. Olive oil works well, as does coconut oil. After you rub it on, cover your hair with a cap and leave it on overnight, then shampoo and rinse the oil out in the morning.

DIY: Treating Dry Hair at Home

Hey girlies.. Here are few home treatments for Dry Hair!
I have listed out few dry hair treatment tips -

1.The use of egg and curd is the best for dry hair treatment.
Mix one egg white (egg yolk promotes dryness. So avoid it.) with five spoons of curd and one spoon of multani mitti. Apply this to your hair and make sure it is evenly spread over the scalp. Wait till it dries and them wash your hair using mild shampoo and conditioner. This makes your hair soft, clean and conditioned.

2.Take a cup of mayonnaise and warm it up till the time it becomes oily. Apply it on your hair and tie it up with a plastic bag. After 15 minutes rinse it well with shampoo.

3.Mix one spoon of shikakai powder to one cup of coconut milk. Massage your hair with it and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash your hair later to get soft, silky hair.

4.Warm up some coconut oil and put some lemon juice in it. Apply it to your scalp and massage well. This prevents dandruff, the common feature of dry hair.

5.Olive oil hair mask
Whisk up 5 tablespoons of olive oil – it doesn't matter which sort – with 2 full eggs. Massage thoroughly into your hair and then cover it with plastic wrap or a shower hat. Your body heat will help the oil to penetrate. Leave for a minimum of 30 minutes and then shampoo out, rinsing well.

6.Honey and Olive oil mask
Mix 3 tablespoons of olive oil with 2 tablespoons of honey. Apply to your hair and wrap your head in plastic film or put on a shower hat. Leave for at least 30 minutes and then shampoo as usual, rinsing well.

7.Sunflower oil Treatment
Wet hair in the shower. Apply a quarter-size amount of sunflower oil to your scalp (more or less as needed). Massage it into the scalp. Comb the oil through to the ends of your hair. Wrap hair in a hot wet towel for up to an hour. If you don't have that much time, I recommend wrapping hair in Saran Wrap for 20 minutes. Shampoo hair thoroughly.

8.To get rid of split ends
Give your ends that much needed love by mixing 2 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of almond oil. Mix them well and apply it on the hair, concentrating on the ends. Leave it on for half an hour and rinse well with tolerably hot water (it makes it easier to remove excess oil and honey).

9.Methi mask for Dandruff:
Soak a handful of fenugreek seeds overnight in just enough water to cover them. In the morning, grind the seeds in the water to make a paste. Apply to your hair and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash it out using a mild shampoo

These home dry hair treatment should be followed twice a week for effective results. Other precautions to be taken for healthy hair is to keep your head covered while travelling, to wash your hair every alternate day and to brush them well before going to bed.

These tips were tried and tested. But are not my own.!

Hey all..

I want to put forth a make up tip to make lips look little plump.
Who does not want the full bee stung lips.. And obviously we can not get operated(at least I will not :P)

So here is the tip..

Unlike usual lining the lips on the edge..,try applying just above the edge of the upper lip.
Then fill it with the same colour lipstick.
Now take a blotting sheet.
Take off the excess lipstick.

This works the best if you have a thick lower lip and a thin upper lip like me :)

Before you do this, apply concealer or a bit lighter foundation to your lips also in order to cover up any pigmentation. and it also gives the true lipstick colour.

The tip:
Now that the lipstick part is done.
Apply very little talcum powder or high lighter on your Cupid's bow.
And finish the process by applying a lighter lip gloss.

Points to remember:
1.Avoid pigmentation by applying concealer or foundation.
2.Don't over line the lips. just a thin outer lip line will do the work.
3.The talc should be applied on the Cupid's bow ONLY.
4.The lighter the gloss the maximum effect.

Hope this tip helps to get plump lips without a lip plumper.

Appu :)
