Common Hair Mistakes we Need to Stop

Hey Girls..
We all imagine that we know our hair better than anybody else, after all we've been living with it day in, day out for most of our lives.  According to top hair stylists however, we are damaging our hair without even knowing that we’re doing it. These are some of the mistakes we need to stop making about our hair.
Using hair color at home gets a big, fat zero from professional hair stylists. Although there is some truth in the fact that many of the products are similar to those found in the hair stylists’ salon it’s not just about what’s in the color but how you do it.  Many women don’t even choose the color which will best enhance their skin tone ending up with extremely dark hair making the skin look pallid and gaunt. A professional colorist will be able to advise you on the best color for your complexion.

Trimming your own fringes or bangs
many women try it but it generally just doesn’t work out well. When you cut your own bang it generally ends up far shorter than you intended or far too wide giving you the “school girl” look. For a start off you need to cut hair vertically and not horizontally . . . did you know that?
Dry shampoos can work well instead of shampooing your hair each and every day which strips the sebum from the hair and encourages the body to just make more. If you really can’t bear not to wash your hair then try one of the many brands of dry powder shampoos on the market, some of them work remarkably well.

• Using hot hair styling tools whilst the hair is still damp.
There are some fabulous hair styling tools available at thesalonoutlet.com but it’s really important to make sure that your hair is completely dry before you use them, otherwise you can cause serious damage to your hair. Hair styling like curling wands, tongs and flat irons should only be used on 100% dry hair.

Pulling impatiently at tangles and knots is another mistake which many women make when they are in a hurry. If your hair is tangled you should smooth a little conditioner onto the knot with your fingers, leave it for a few minutes then gently comb with a wide toothed comb. If you don’t do this you can tear your hair and tip the shaft – not good!

Slapping on too much conditioner on your scalp
It’s only the ends of the hair which can benefit from conditioner. If you put too much onto your entire head it can lead to the buildup of a tacky film.
Using your hair dryer too close to your hair
yep, that burning smell is your hair. Don’t just hold the hair dryer close to your head until your scalp is scorched, keep it at a safe distance and move the dryer around for pain free, damage free drying.
• The rubber band habit –
we've all done it even though we know that we really shouldn't. If you can’t find a ponytail holder don’t think that a rubber band will do the job because it can cause damage and splits to your hair.  It’s also not a good idea to wear a very tight ponytail in the same position day in, day out . . . variety is the spice of life.

  3. Very nice post Appu. I really wonder how some girls put conditioner on their scalp when it causes immense hair fall. Also, I so agree on the pulling part. Some people comb as if they are fighting a battle against their hair :)
