Biotique Bio Morning Nectar Lightening and Nourishing Lotion Review and Swatch

Guest post I by Ramya
Hi happy
This is my first article on ‘Apoorva Writes’. Since those days, when I knew nothing about makeup to today, I have been learning a lot from all the beauty blogs. Now, my mobile is filled up with bookmarks, all of which holds links to these blogs.
Daily, I sit at my desk in my office and once I get some time, I immediately open my browser and open each and every bookmark one after the other. It has become my daily routine. I want to start my own blog very soon, but waiting for one such special moment! I want to begin its journey on my ‘Sweetheart’s’ big day.
Expressing my love towards these blogs keeps going on and on….
Well, coming to the review, today, I would like to review a simple and a promising product: Biotique Bio Morning Nectar – Lightening and Nourishing Lotion .

What it says:
This nourishing lotion replaces natural oils and replenishes lost moisture, as it brightens skin for a noticeably fresher, fairer complexion. Protects skin with SPF 30 UVA/ UVB Sunscreen.
Price and Quantity: Rs 199 for 120ml
What’s in it: Ghritkumari, Methi, Madhu(Honey), Ankhuri gehun, Kusumbhi tail, Lotion Base Q.S
Ghritkumari: It is nothing but Aloe vera.  As we all know, Aloe-vera can cure most of the skin disorders etc.
Methi:  Methi is a common ingredient which is very near to every common man. It plays a key role in reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It also prevents pimples, on regular use.
Madhu(Honey): Honey can revolutionize the skin in every possible way. It adds natural glow to the skin.
Ankurit gehun: It is a Germ Oil extracted from wheat germ, which is rich in vitamin – E. It acts as a skin conditioning agent.
Kusumbhi Tail: It is a safflower seed oil, which acts as a lubricant on the skin surface, which gives the skin a soft and smooth appearance. Even this acts as a skin conditioning agent.
Ankhurit gehun and Kusumbhi Tail are major ingredients of most of the Biotique products.
When Used:
Biotique Bio Morning Nectar, is suitable for all skin types. It is introduced as a nourishing lotion with sun protection.
It was a part of my recent Haul. I generally use body shop moisturizers and Vichy sunscreen spray. This product claims to be a nourishing sunscreen pack! I purchased this product for one reason, i.e it is completely an Ayurvedic recipe with 100% botanical extracts, organically pure and preservative free.  Biotique claims this to be a non-cosmetic product.I have used it for almost one month now. So, I think it is time that I can confidently review it.

Fragrance: I think the fragrance is one of the best thing in this product. It has a lovely smell which lingers around for 2 hours, once applied. Frankly speaking, I really wanna say you that I have never ever met such a lovely fragrance in beauty products till now. It is that gooood! It is creamy in texture, easy to spread. Small amount is enough for hands and feet.
I generally start to office at 8:30 Am from home, and it takes almost 1.30 hrs to reach. So, coming out at that time, without a sunscreen is welcoming tan. So sunscreen is a must. This product being a sun protector too, with SPF 30, led me to use it as a sunscreen to my hands, feet and few areas that are exposed. I have been using this for almost one month now. I can confidently say that it promisingly acts as a good sunscreen. The other corner of the product is its ability in moisturizing. It keeps the moisturizing wing wide open, all the day. In the beginning I felt that, it does make my skin a bit oily. Not much though! Basically, I have combination skin (normal – oily). But after 3 - 4 days, my skin got used to it and I never faced that again. But still, I don’t recommend it to be used over face.
The most noticeable thing in Bio morning nectar, is that, YES it does moisturize to an appreciable level and protects from skin acting as an efficient sunscreen, BUT it doesn’t lighten the skin in any dimension. I mean, your hands stay in your normal skin colour. I don’t say that, other sunscreens lighten your skin, not even temporarily. But when applied, they leave a fair tint, a feel as if nothing is applied etc, due to which the skin looks somewhat different - a bit brighter and lighter. But when we use this, skin looks smoother for sure, but it takes around 10 – 15 min to completely get vanished into our skin. I strongly recommend this to dry skin beauties. They would love it to the core!
I guess you can see the oiliness on the left picture above
I also want to mention one more thing: If you apply this on your hands with your fingers, and then immediately try to apply some other foundation or day cream on face with the same fingers, even your face looks a bit oily as the product lasts on our palms for about 15min.I tried applying it on my face as a sunscreen. It made my face oily within 2 hrs or so. I love using it on my hands as it is non-chemical based sunscreen, made out with botanical ingredients, but cant bare it on my face! Hope that dint confuse you!

What it does:
  • It moisturizes the skin well enough.
  • It acts as a sunscreen efficiently.
  • Smoothens the skin.
What it doesn’t:
Doesn’t make skin feel light.

  • Cost-effective for a pure botanical product.
  • Easily available online and in every beauty-cosmetic stores.
  • No parabens.
  • No harsh chemicals
  • Travely friendly
  • Lovely fragrance and spread easily.
  • A blessing for dry skin beauties
  • Doesn’t break out
  • Moisturizing ability lasts for the whole day unless washed with water
  • Soothens rough and sore skin.
  • Gives a cool sensation when applied.
  • Feels heavy for oil and combination skin beauties.
Rating: 3/5

Final Verdict:
It is a promising product. Nourishes well and acts efficiently as a sunscreen. But I think I wont repurchase it, as I have combination skin(Normal – oily) and it makes my skin feel heavy. I will be back to my current and all time favourite sunscreen – Vichy Sunscreen Spray, once I finish this bottle. By the way, review on this is coming soon. So stay tuned happyhappy Take care happy
